I have several items that I’ve saved from my wedding 32 years ago. My wedding dress, veil, cake topper, and one of the wedding favors we gave out, to name a few. But one of the most treasured keepsakes I saved is my wedding journal. There aren’t any pictures ~ just information. Information that includes names and addresses of bridal dress shops, florists, reception halls, caterers, photographers, etc. It also has scheduled appointment times, fabric swatches, and price-lists.
I pulled this journal out when I helped my daughter plan her wedding 11 years ago. We live in a different part of the country now, so none of the information was of any use, but it gave us an idea of all the areas we needed to cover and the approximate time-frame to work within. But the best part was all the fun we had seeing how much things, especially prices, had changed. For example, back in 1976, I was able to provide our wedding guests with a beautiful full buffet-style luncheon for $3.00 per person. We spent one whole afternoon going over my journal page by page, with me doing a lot of reminiscing. It was one of the best days of wedding planning that we had. I’m so glad we were able to share that day. It was a memory both of us will always cherish.
