There’s nothing that says weddings have to be formal.  Sometimes, even as adults, it’s good to let that inner child out, and a teddy bear theme is the perfect way to do that.  For this type of theme, it’s all about the decorations. 

Let your flower girl carry her petal basket that has been adorned with a tiny teddy bear.  A bear-shaped pillow can carry your rings tied onto each paw.  Embellish your reception tables with centerpieces that feature different bears or try making several pairs of beautiful ‘bear’ fresheners to set around the reception hall.  A stuffed pair of bride and groom teddys can even keep guard at the gift table.  Teddy bear cake toppers are readily available at many online wedding shops as well as unique wedding favors to send home with your guests.  HINT:  If you can’t find bear-theme wedding favors, look for baby shower favors.  Some may even be able to be personalized with your names and your wedding date.

Ask your caterer about customizing your reception foods into teddy bear molds or arrangements.  You may even want to complete the look with a teddy bear ice sculpture. 

If you are looking for a truly unique theme, this ‘Love Bears All Things’ (1Cor. 13:7) wedding theme is a particularly sweet idea. 

Does the word ‘traditional’ not describe the wedding of your dreams?  Are you not excited about any of the more typical ‘theme weddings’ that you’ve heard about?  Then you may be looking for something a little more unusual and unique.  Here are a few ideas that might at least get your creative juices flowing.

Choose a particular time period, such as the 1920’s or Victorian England and build your wedding around it.  Incorporate the costumes, the customs, the music and even the foods.

Western-style weddings are also a unique alternative.  Decorating the reception hall in hay-bails and holding a square dance complete with fiddle players is a wonderful way to show your western flare.  Serve up a barbecue feast and even set out adorable cow ‘Udderly in Love’ wedding favors on the tables.

A simpler variation of a unique theme would be to choose a special place of significance to be married at.  Maybe you’d like to hold the ceremony where the two of you first met, the school you attended together, or the place where he proposed. 

Theme weddings are a great way to display your unique style.  Allowing yourself to think ‘outside the traditional box’ will ensure you and your guests a wedding that will not soon be forgotten.
