Wedding favors can be traced back as early as 16th century Europe.  The giving of favors not only demonstrated gratitude to those who shared in the couple’s special day, but since wedding days were considered particularly blessed occasions, it was also a way for the bride and groom to pass that blessing onto their guests.  Originally exclusive to wealthy, upper class families, wedding favors have grown into a traditional part of wedding ceremonies of all cultures and classes.  Early favors consisted mainly of small candies, confections, nuts or fruits which were given to guests beforehand to enjoy during the ceremony. 

Today the wedding favors available are as diverse and unique as the people who give them.  Personal styles, tastes, and budgets all help to determine the favor given, and brides still take great care when choosing that perfect favor.  The giving of wedding favors is still the best way to let guests know how much their presence is appreciated.  Favors are a ‘take home memory’ of a very special day.
