Turning 16-years old is a big deal for teenagers. Girls, especially, look forward to celebrating their 16th birthdays. Turning 16 is significant in that in the United States 16-year-olds can drive, and it’s the age of legal consent. MTV’s show My Sweet Sixteen has also made the celebration of these birthdays legendary. Because of all the cultural hype surrounding this birthday, most young girls feel entitled to a celebration.
